Revolution: Dame Storey and the split-cover special

Regular readers will know we’re two-wheel enthusiasts here at Speak HQ. Fitting, then, that we should be so busy creating the event programmes for the Revolution Series – the ‘premier league’ of track cycling. Round 5 (of 6) in the current season takes place this weekend at London’s Olympic VeloPark, which was the scene for so much sporting triumph over two years ago now.

For the latest programme we had to get (extra) creative owing to the fact that Dame Sarah Storey, Britain’s most decorated Paralympian, will make her attempt on the women’s world Hour record on Saturday afternoon (Go Sarah!).

Since the Hour attempt only takes up one of the weekend’s three Revolution sessions, we opted for a split cover for the Round 5 programme; one, of course, featuring Storey, and the other Christian Grasmann, founder of Elite Championship front-runners Maloja Pushbikers. We were fortunate enough to grab interviews with both Storey and Grasmann despite their super-busy schedules in the run-up to the event. Here’s a sneak peek at the covers:

We even had a film crew to record the process, as part of a promo being put together by the print company Manson Group (cheers guys). This shot shows Speak Media’s editorial director (and editor of the event programme) George putting the finishing touches to the covers.

And here’s art director Tan, er, art directing.

The team will be heading down to Lee Valley – give us a shout if you are too! And pick up a programme… or two (collect them all!). Only £4 for  your slice of history – if you ask nicely we might even sign one for you.
